We are now going to learn how to turn on comments in the Thesis 2 Theme Templates. Comments are not enabled by default. This is good timing as we have copied our fully customized “Home” template to the rest of the templates for our site. Now we will customize the Single and Page templates to enable commenting by our visitors.
From the WordPress Dashboard navigate to the Thesis 2 HTML page. Switch templates to the Single template.
Scroll down the right side of the page and look for the two Comment boxes.
Shift-click and drag these two comments boxes to the Home Post Box section as shown below.
One item not enabled by default is the Comments Avatar. This is the image that is displayed by the comment author. It can be an icon or the comment author’s picture. You may remember this setting in the WordPress Discussion Settings.
To enable the avatar click on the black arrow on the Comments box.
It will expand to show green bars of the items that are enabled by default. There is a gray bar labeled “show tray” at the bottom. click on the tray to expand it.
Click once on the “Comment Avatar” green bar and it will appear in the Comments section above.
You can move it to the desired position using a single left-click and drag-and-drop. I moved mine to the top.
Next we need to add the Comments Navigation links for when we have so many comments that we have to page through them.
Shift-click and drag the Comments Navigation box to the Home Post Box.
Don’t forget to click the green “Save Template” button.
That’s all there is to it. Now change your template to the “Page” template and do the same thing.
Our Comments now look like the picture below.
